Tony Award-winning Artistic Director Christopher Ashley has curated a collection of shows that reflects the full spectrum of human experience. Renewing your Subscription

Your brochure and renewal invoice will arrive by mail in early November.

6-Play Subscribers – If you have no changes to your subscription, you can renew online in under 5 minutes. If you have changes, fill out the form included with your renewal invoice and mail it back to us in the envelope provided.

Design-Your-Own Subscribers – We’d love to upgrade you to a premium subscription that gives you even better value. Please see the renewal brochure we mailed to you for a special offer! If you prefer not to upgrade, we will be in touch when DYO packs go on sale in Spring 2026 so you can grab great seats to shows of your choice.

A select Saturday matinee of each show is designated as a relaxed performance, and live American Sign Language interpretation and closed captioning are available for those who are Deaf or hard of hearing. What is a subscription and why is it the best option?

A subscription is a premium package of 6 plays, with excellent seats that are renewable year after year.

A subscription is much more cost effective than purchasing single tickets on a casual basis. It gives you first access to the best available seats, savings of at least 20% on single ticket prices and a range of other exclusive benefits, including early access to special offers, no transaction fees, free parking and free exchanges. Additionally, a subscription is an excellent way to support La Jolla Playhouse’s work and provides a vital foundation to ensure we can continue to advance theatre as an art form, tell stories that inspire and create a dialogue toward a more just future.

When can I purchase a subscription or tickets?
  • Renewing subscribers can renew from Oct 28, 2025.
  • New premium 6-Play subscriptions are processed in order of receipt from Nov 11, 2025.
  • Design-Your-Own subscriptions of 3 or more shows go on sale in Spring 2026. Sign up for our mailing list to be notified when they go on sale.

Can I purchase a subscription as a gift for someone else?

Can I book tickets to individual plays?

Tickets to individual plays go on sale in 2026, closer to the run dates. In the meantime, tickets are only available as part of a subscription. Sign up for our mailing list to be sent a reminder when they go on sale.

Can I exchange tickets to another date?

One of the best benefits of your subscription is fee-free exchanges, guaranteed. Once your tickets have arrived in the mail, you can exchange into another date of the same production, subject to availability.

How are my tickets sent to me?

You will receive a transaction confirmation email immediately – this confirms that your subscription will be processed in order of receipt. Patron Services works on your order and selects the best available seats for you. Tickets with specific performance dates are mailed to you in Spring 2026. Once your tickets have arrived in the mail, take advantage of your free exchange perk to adjust your subscription dates as needed.

I have a gift certificate. Can I use this toward my subscription?

Yes, if you have a gift certificate, you can apply this towards your subscription or single tickets. To utilize these funds toward your 2026/27 subscription renewal, please enter the 10-digit gift certificate number (please include the hyphen) when renewing online at lajollaplayhouse.org/renew, list the gift certificate number on your renewal invoice form, or call Patron Services at (858) 550-1010.

Can I make a Group Booking?

Yes, the more the merrier! A Group Subscription is a wonderful way to plan enjoyable outings with your friends, family, colleagues or social group.

Book online – You can book for groups of up to 10 people online. This is the quickest and easiest way to access the best available seats.
Group 10+ – For groups over 10 people, please call (858) 550-1010 or email [email protected] and we will work with you to plan for your Group’s needs and find the best seats.

What is a ‘First Look’ show?

‘First Look’ performances are the first week of the run of each show prior to opening night (with some exceptions). First Look tickets are lower price and offer the opportunity to experience the show while the creative team is still polishing and making changes. This is a vital element of a show’s evolution, allowing the creative team to step back and see the show through the eyes and experience of the audience. Playhouse staff speak to the audience briefly before the show starts, and the creative team may be seated near you taking notes.

Can I select my seats?

Subscribers select the seating area (Gold Circle, Area 1 or Area 2) when you order. You can also leave a note about a specific request when you are booking online. When our Patron Services team starts working on your subscription, they will select the best available seats for you. If they have questions, Patron Services will get in touch with you.

We encourage you to order swiftly to ensure you get the pick of the best seats – orders are processed in order of receipt.

Do my seats change or stay the same?

One of the most popular benefits of the Premium 6-Play subscription is that you can keep your same great seats, year after year. The seats are different in each of the three theatre spaces.

Design-Your-Own subscribers are allocated the best available seats (with your preferences taken into account), so your seats will change per show.

It’s important to note that due to the nature of developing new works for the stage, seating and sightlines may adjust when shows move from rehearsals into the theatre. If your seats or sightlines are affected, we will contact you to offer equal or upgraded seats to ensure your enjoyment.

What should I do if I can’t decide what package I want?

The Premium 6-Play package is the best deal. You get the lowest prices (save at least 20%), first access to excellent seats that you can renew, year after year, and many more perks.

The Design-Your-Own package is great if you want more flexibility. You choose 3 or more shows you want to see, and select any date and time that suits your calendar. Prices are higher than the premium 6-Play package (save around 10%), but you still get a discount on single ticket prices.

Can I exchange a show in my package for a different show?

Subscribers can exchange tickets within the run of the same show, subject to availability. Exchanges between different shows are not possible.

Can I get a refund on my subscription if I don't use the tickets?

We send pre-show reminders by email and text message to help ensure you are aware of your performance dates.

Unused tickets cannot be refunded. If you have accidentally missed a performance, you can contact your Patron Services team at (858) 550-1010 within one week of the missed date and purchase a replacement ticket for $20 for the same production. Please note that seat location is not guaranteed, and subject to availability.

If you can’t attend a performance, we encourage you to exchange dates, donate your tickets, or give your tickets to a friend.

What is the satisfaction guarantee?

We want you to enjoy your subscription and we do our best to ensure you have a good experience at La Jolla Playhouse. If you’re not satisfied with your first show, we will refund you the remaining cost of your unused tickets.

Do you offer any payment plans?

Yes, audience members who subscribe before Jan 2026 have the option to spread the cost of your subscription over multiple payments. Please get in touch with our Patron Services team at (858) 550-1010 for more info and to arrange this. Some conditions apply.
