Group Sales & Discounts

La Jolla Playhouse offers a number of discount options. Family, friends, co-workers or club members can purchase tickets as a GROUP to save up to 25%. SUBSCRIBERS, STUDENTS, SENIORS, MILITARY and YOUTH are all eligible for discounts off full-price tickets. Finally, students and seniors can also take advantage of our RUSH LINE, where last-minute, low-price tickets are available one hour before certain performances.


Booking Your Group

La Jolla Playhouse is the ideal place to bring a group of your family, friends, coworkers or fellow club members for a night of theatre.

Group discounts are available for groups of 10 or more. Savings range from 10% to 35% and vary by group size, group type, play and day of week, with the greatest savings for students, seniors and nonprofit groups.

Groups can arrange additional services to enhance their event. Options include pre- or post-show receptions, facilitated discussions about the show, backstage tours* or pre-play Insider introductions. (*Groups must be clear of the backstage area no less than three hours before the performance.)

Booking Your Group Is Easy!

Follow These Simple Steps to Success:
  1. Gather a group of 10 or more eager theatregoers.
  2. Choose a play and performance date.
  3. Call Group Sales at (858) 550-1070 x131.The group sales office is open from 12:00 pm - 6:00 pm, Monday - Saturday.
  4. The Group Sales Representative will work with you to select your seat locations and will put your seats on a temporary hold. Once a 25% deposit is paid, your seat locations become permanent.
  5. Final payment is due two weeks prior to the performance.
  6. Enjoy the show!

Please note: There are no exchanges or refunds on group tickets.

  • Sheila and Hughes Potiker Theatre

Subscriber Discounts

Complete Collection subscribers may purchase additional tickets for friends or family at a special discount of $5 off each ticket. All other subscribers receive $3 off each ticket. The subscriber discount is available for all performances.

Subscribers also receive discounts at area businesses.Coupons are mailed with tickets to subscribers.

Student, Senior and Military Discounts
Seniors (ages 62 and over), full-time students and active military families save $3.00 per full price ticket purchased for all performances except Saturday evening. Valid I.D. required. Discount is available in person, online or by phone at (858) 550-1010.

Suscribers may purchase tickets for young people (17 and under) at half price when they attend on the same night as the subscribing adult. (Limit of two tickets per subscription per play.) Some productions may be unsuitable for young people. Call the Box Office for recommendations.



RUSH for the best price on last-minute tickets!

What is Rush?
Rush tickets are tickets for the remaining seats in a certain performance. They are made avaialble for purchase one hour before curtain of that night's performance. Rush tickets are sold on a first-come, first-served basis. Rush tickets are $20 for musicals and $15 for all other plays.

Who is eligible for Rush?
Seniors (ages 62 and over) and full-time students are eligible for Rush. The Rush Line is available for the first six performances of all productions for seniors. The Rush line is always available for full-time students with valid I.D. One Rush ticket per valid I.D.

Senior rush is available for the six preview performances for each production.

How does it work?
The Rush Line begins one hour prior to the performance. Patrons will be issued rush tickets on a first-come, first-served basis. Patrons are encouraged to call the Box Office at (858) 550-1010 on the day of the performance to see if Rush tickets will be available for that show.
