Accessibility Services

La Jolla Playhouse provides wheelchair-accessible seating and parking. There are several accessible parking spaces in the usual drop-off lot, and lot P102 offers additional spaces. Wheelchair seat locations are available for wheelchair users and a companion at all performances; be sure to advise the reservationist that you require a wheelchair location. Additionally, a golf cart is available to assist patrons with accessibility issues to and from the parking lot. Please notify the Box Office prior to your performance if you are in need of this service; additionally, you may pull into the five minute parking in front of the theatre, and a friendly La Jolla Playhouse greeter will assist you.

The Playhouse also provides assisted listening devices for patrons who are hard of hearing. Devices are available, free of charge, at the Patron Services Center prior to performances (subject to availability).

ACCESS Performance Series

"This innovative program at La Jolla Playhouse gives disabled patrons the same privilege we all enjoy of attending world-class productions at one of the finest theatres in the United States."
- Jim Jenkins, president and CEO of Community Catalysts, 2005

Since the 1996-1997 Season, La Jolla Playhouse has offered its award-winning ACCESS Program, which provides an American Sign Language-interpreted and Audio Described performance for deaf/hard of hearing and blind/low vision audiences.

Each ACCESS performance begins at 1:00 pm with a pre-show sensory tour and a special presentation to provide design information to enhance the production for all patrons. During this presentation, materials used in the set and costumes are made available for our guests to feel, increasing their ability to more fully understand the thematic interplay of the design with the text. In 2005, La Jolla Playhouse's ACCESS Program received the "Catalyst of the Year" Award for service to the disabled community.
